this time next week...

Next Sunday, the feast of Christ the King, the Christchurch Catholic diocesan family gathers in the Canterbury Arena to mark the end of the Year of Faith with the diocesan Faithfest celebrations.

Throughout the day, from the 9.30am opening to the 7.00pm Choral Festival, there is a full programme featuring the people of the diocese.

All events during the day are free of charge, however you need to carry a ticket to attend the Mass at 11am. Despite an overwhelming demand, there are still tickets available - phone 03 366 9869.

It is remarkable that while the average weekly Mass attendance in the entire Christchurch diocese is just under 9000, over 8400 people have already requested and received tickets for the Mass. (the tickets are of course free of charge, but necessary to monitor numbers in the arena).

Here in the Good Shepherd Hurunui parish we see around 80 people each week spread over the four weekend Masses. yet 90 parishioners are signed up to participate in the Faithfest Mass to be celebrated by Bishop Barry Jones at 11.00am.

There is more information, with details of the events of the day on the diocesan website at this link.
