They say a "red sky in the morning, is the shepherd's warning..." This is the version I learnt from my farming ancestors. I think the original was the 'sailor's' warning.
This was the view this morning from the presbytery on Chatham Islands. Later this morning, family and friends of Charlie Preece will gather to lay him to rest.
Keep him in your prayer, and also his family and friends who mourn.
Also pray for the happy repose of the souls of other parishioners of our parishes who have been buried this week: for Bett Draper of St. Joseph's, and Paula Wilson of Our Lady of Victories.
May they rest in peace.
