united in prayer

Pope Francis has invited Catholics around the world to share with him a time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday afternoon 2 June 5.00pm (Rome time). Readers of this blog live all over the world so you can use this link to work out what 5pm Rome time is where you live.

In NZ it will be 3.00am Monday 3 June. This is not a time when many of us think of heading to the Church for Holy Hour, let alone getting up from bed to pray in our own homes. But it might just be that your desire to pray in solidarity with people all over the world, and with Pope Francis in St. Peter's basilica in Rome, nudges you wake to spend this time in the stillness of the night in prayer in your own home.

The pope invites us to unite in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament for two main intentions:
  • The first intention is for the obedience of the Church so that she appear before the world as “beautiful, without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish.”
  • The second intention is for victims of violence, drugs, human trafficking, economic insecurity and social marginalization.
